Maj. Gen. Carl Dodd RIP

ARCOIreland regrets to inform its members of the death of Major General Carl Dodd of Newbridge, County Kildare on 18th September 2018. Sadly missed by Frances, Lucy, Fionn, Tom, Anne, Sam, Alan and Muriel, Defence Forces colleagues, extended family, neighbours and friends.

A native of Mallow, County Cork, Carl Dodd joined the Defence Forces in 1961 as a member of 35 Cadet Class (1961-1962) and served for most of his career in the Curragh, Defence Forces Headquarters and the Military College where he held the appointments of Cadet Master and College Commandant. He was Office Commanding 3 Infantry Battalion, Director of Operations and Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations). Overseas, he served with the United Nations in Cyprus, Lebanon and in Central America and was Chief of Staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation in the Middle East. He attended the Advanced Infantry Course at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Reposing at Anderson & Leahy’s Funeral Home, Newbridge on Wednesday from 5 pm with prayers at 7 pm. Removal on Thursday morning at 9.30 am to arrive at Cill Mhuire, Ballymany for Mass at 10 am. Funeral afterwards to Newlands Cross Crematorium.
