Capt. Patrick Goggin RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Patrick D. Goggin of Glenageary, County Dublin and late of Dingle, County Kerry. Peacefully on June 20th, 2016 in St Michael’s Hospital, with his family at his side. Beloved husband of Muriel and loving father of Jennifer, Erika and Ursula. Sadly missed by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, Martin, Ian and Assie, grandchildren Rebekah, Stephanie, Jordie, Ally, Megan and Zach, his brothers Lieutenant Colonel Colman and Bernard, extended family, colleagues and friends, especially Mohammed.

Removal Thursday from Quinn’s of Glasthule to St. Brigid’s Church, Cabinteely, arriving for 11.30am Funeral Mass, followed by cremation in Mount Jerome Crematorium. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to the Defence Forces Benevolent Fund.

Capt. John McGlinchey RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain John McGlinchey, late of Letterkenny, County Donegal. On January 12, 2018 peacefully, at his home in Harare, Zimbabwe with his loving daughter Afric by his side. Survived by his brother Fr. P.J. McGlinchey in Jeju Island, Korea. Beloved father of Afric, Ian and Paula, adored grandfather of Kalai, Joe, Micaela, Tadhg, Cian, Ciara, and Nathan, proud great-grandfather of Benjamin, loving brother-in-law of Ursula, Basil, Liz, Sheelagh, Marine. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

John was a member of the 27th Cadet Class and served in the Western Command, before retiring from the Permanent Defence Force and moving to Zambia in the 1960s.

A funeral Mass will be held at the University Church, 87A St. Stephens Green, Dublin 2, on Friday, February 9, at 12.00pm.

Capt. Colm Moriarty RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Colm Moriarty of Howth, County Dublin. Peacefully, on November 2nd, 2018, after a short illness, in the care of Beaumont Hospital and surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Ann; Very sadly missed by his loving children Barry, Ciara, Kevin and Stephen daughters-in-law Larissa and Pauline, grandchildren Anna, Sean and Olivia, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and Gomes his dog.

Colm was a member of the 5th Air Corps Short Service Class of 1957/1958.

Reposing in Staffords Funeral Home, Strand Road, Portmarnock, on Wednesday from 3pm to 5pm, house private. Removal to the Church of the Assumption, Howth, on Thursday morning for 10am Funeral Mass, followed by cremation in Dardistown Crematorium. Family flowers only please. Capt. Jim Brady RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain James B. (Jim) Brady, Howth Road, Raheny, Dublin. On the 1st November, 2018, at Rathmore Park, Raheny, peacefully after an illness bravely borne. Beloved husband of Pearl and loving father of Larry, Nicola, Declan, Fergal, Conleth and Etáin. Sadly missed by his family, his grandchildren Sinéad, Michael, Caolán, Aoife, Fiacre, Matthew, Sarah, Ailbhe, Ríonach, Zuzanna, Szymon, Rachael, Christopher, and Emily, great-granddaughter Lilly, sons-in-law Patrick and Mark, daughters-in-law Gina, Maria, Lesley & Kasia, sisters Maureen, June, Patricia and Ursula, brother Aidan, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jim was a member of the 4th Air Corps Short Service Class of 1956/1957 and later worked with Aer Lingus, the Irish Aviation Authority and Simtech Aviation.

Reposing at Rathmore Park, Raheny, Dublin 5, with family in attendance on Thursday, 8th November from 6.00pm to 9.00pm and on Friday, 9th November from 2.00pm to 6.00pm. Removal at 10.30am on Saturday, 10th November to the Church of Our Lady Mother of Divine Grace, Raheny for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by Cremation at Dardistown Crematorium. No flowers; donations in lieu please to St. Francis Hospice or The Irish Cancer Society.

Capt. Ray Tumulty RIP – First President of ARCO

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Ray Tumulty, of Wicklow Town, on 2 October 2018, peacefully at Blackrock Private Hospital. Loving husband of the late Teresa and loving father of Audrey and Lesley. Sadly missed by his loving daughters, extended family, relatives and friends.

Capt PJ (Ray) Tumulty was born in Galway in 1931. His father, one of the early members of An Gárda Síochána, had served with the Irish Guards during the Great War. Ray joined the Defence Forces in November 1950 as a member of 25 Cadet Class and was commissioned as an Infantry Corps Second Lieutenant in November 1952. He served in the Western Command, the Air Corps and at Defence Forces Headquarters. Ray served overseas with the United Nations in the Congo as the Second-in-Command of the Infantry Company, 2 Infantry Group, the last Defence Forces’ unit to serve with ONUC. He joined 3 Infantry Group in Cyprus as a replacement in December 1964 and continued with 4 Infantry Group as Assistant Quartermaster until June 1965. Ray left the Army in 1967 and worked initially in Human Resources. He spend some years as HR Manager with Calor Gas and also worked with IBEC. He was a Vice-Chancellor of Dublin City University. Ray Tumulty was one of the founding fathers of the Association of Retired Commissioned Officers and was its first President from 1993 to 1995.  

Ray will repose at McCrea’s Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Wicklow Town from 5.00pm to 8.00pm on Friday evening. Removal on Saturday morning at 10.30am to Saint Patrick’s Church, Wicklow Town arriving for 11.00am Funeral Mass followed by interment in Rathnew Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Capt. Mick Maher RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Michael (Mick) Maher, Great Connell, Newbridge, Kildare on 16th May 2015. Most beloved husband of Marie, he will be so sadly missed by his children Stephen, Barbara, Fergal and Cormac and their partners, sister Cecilia and extended family. Proud Buddy and Bigdaddy to seven grandchildren.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 11am in St. Conleth's Parish Church, Newbridge, with cremation afterwards in Newlands Cross Crematorium. House private. Family flowers only.

Capt. Joe Finucane RIP

The family and friends of Captain Joseph Patrick (Joe) Finucane, a former Engineer Officer in the Defence Forces who died on 27 September 2014 in Sydney, Australia, have organised a memorial Mass in the Church of The Holy Spirit, Ballyroan, Dublin 16, at 1000hrs on Tuesday 28 October. 

Joe was a loving husband to Dorothy and a dearly beloved brother of Bríd, Declan and Nuala. Much-loved father of Deirdre, Sinead, Emma, Jillian and Niall. Missed by his twelve grandchildren.

Capt. Karl Dunleavy R.I.P.

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Karl Dunleavy, Great Connell, Newbridge, Co. Kildare. On February 27, 2013, peacefully; beloved husband of the late Ronnie and father of the late Gary.  Sadly missed by his loving children, grandchildren, sisters, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Capt. Richard Conroy R.I.P.

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Richard (Richie) Conroy of Bray, Co. Wicklow. On Tuesday, January 01, 2013, peacefully, in the loving care of the staff of Kylemore Nursing Home, Bray. Beloved husband of Lyla and brother of Fr. Christopher. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, brother, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a wide circle of friends and motoring pals.

Capt. Mary Jo O’Sullivan-Macklin R.I.P.

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Mary Jo O'Sullivan-Macklin (58 Cadet Class).  On 12 September 2012, peacefully, after a short illness, borne with dignity and courage, in the loving care of the staff of Cork University Hospital.  Beloved wife of Pádraig and devoted mother of Christian, predeceased by her father Teddy; deeply regretted by her mother Margaret, mother-in-law Patricia, Ross and Steven, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts, uncle, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at her home, 42 Norwood Court, Rochestown, Cork on Thursday, 13 September, from 5pm to 9pm.  Removal to St. Patrick's Church, Rochestown, on Friday for funeral mass at 11am followed by burial in Droum Cemetery, Castletownbere.
