Cathal Brugha Barracks

The Mess President, Officers' Mess, Cathal Brugha Barracks, has extended an invitation to ARCO members and their guests to a BBQ to mark the departure of the GOC 2 Brigade, Brigadier General Michael Beary, as Force Commander UNIFIL. 

The BBQ takes place on Thursday, 30th June and tickets are €15. Cocktail Bar opens at 1830 with food served at 1930 followed by a DJ and Music.

Capt. Patrick Goggin RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Patrick D. Goggin of Glenageary, County Dublin and late of Dingle, County Kerry. Peacefully on June 20th, 2016 in St Michael’s Hospital, with his family at his side. Beloved husband of Muriel and loving father of Jennifer, Erika and Ursula. Sadly missed by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, Martin, Ian and Assie, grandchildren Rebekah, Stephanie, Jordie, Ally, Megan and Zach, his brothers Lieutenant Colonel Colman and Bernard, extended family, colleagues and friends, especially Mohammed.

Removal Thursday from Quinn’s of Glasthule to St. Brigid’s Church, Cabinteely, arriving for 11.30am Funeral Mass, followed by cremation in Mount Jerome Crematorium. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to the Defence Forces Benevolent Fund.

Lt. Gen. Dave Stapleton RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members that Lieutenant General David (Dave) Francis Stapleton DSM, former Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces, died peacefully at his home on Monday, 13 June 2016 with his family by his side.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Maureen, son David, daughters Jennifer, Barbara and Aimee, sons in law Eamon, Seamus and Brendan, daughter in law Regina, his 10 grandchildren whom he adored, his sister Nessa, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at his family home on Wednesday 15 Jun from 16:00 until conclusion of prayers at 20:00. Funeral on Thursday, 16 June after 11:00 Mass in St Conleth’s Parish Church, Newbridge.

ARCO Members’ Briefing – Dublin

An information meeting for ARCO members will take place in the Officers’ Mess, Cathal Brugha Barracks, at 1130 hrs on Friday, 17 June.

Coffee will be available from 1100 hrs. The Executive Committee will update members on matters of broad interest in relation to Association matters.

Please ensure you bring your ID Card with you to gain entry to Cathal Brugha Barracks.
