CORK REGIONAL MEETING – Alliance of Retired Public Servants

The Alliance of Retired Public Servants (ARPS), of which ARCO is a member, has held a number of meetings with senior officials of key Government Departments on pension issues. Regional Meetings are being held countrywide by the ARPS Executive Committee to update retired Public Service Pensioners on these issues.

The Cork Regional Meeting will take place on Monday, 23rd March at 7.30 pm, at the Rochestown Park Hotel, Rochestown Road, Cork. 

Tea/coffee will be available from 7 pm. The meeting will be held in the Estuary Suite.

ARCO Members are encouraged to show their support by attending this meeting.

Comdt. Gerry Bailey RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Commandant Gerard (Gerry) Bailey of Bray, Co. Wicklow who died peacefully on 28th February, 2015 at Leopardstown Park Hospital, in his 97th year. Beloved husband of the late Peggy, dear father of Sr. Jane (Loreto) and John, father-in-law of Grace and the late Deirdre, grandfather of Helen, Sarah and Conor; he will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.


Removal on Wednesday, 4th March, at 11.15am from Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray to St. Brigid’s Church, Cabinteely arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in Shanganagh Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory of Gerry to Leopardstown Park Hospital.

Lt. Col. Brendan McGuire RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Lieutenant Colonel Brendan McGuire of Moyola Park, Newcastle, County Galway and Ballina, County Mayo. On Friday, 27th February 2015. Former Commanding Officer of An Céad Cath, Dun Uí Mhaoiliosa, Renmore, Galway. Dearly beloved husband of Mary (nee Keane) and much loved father of Deirdre, Rory, Barry and Conor. Very sadly missed by his wife, sons and daughter, brothers Padraic and Rory, sisters Máirín, Gráinne, Brídín and Noilín, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, extended family and friends.

Reposing at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway on Monday evening, 2nd March from 5 p.m. with Removal at 7 p.m. to the Cathedral. Funeral after 12 noon Requiem Mass on Tuesday, 3rd March to Rahoon cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if you prefer and in memory of Brendan to Cancer Care West.
