ARCO’s SUBMISSION – Review of Ireland’s Foreign Policy and External Relations

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is undertaking a review of Ireland’s foreign policy and external relations. The purpose of the review is to provide an updated statement of Ireland’s foreign policy and to identify a series of recommendations for its conduct, with a view to ensuring that the Government is equipped with the right mix of policies and instruments to promote our values and interests in a complex and changing international environment.

Ireland’s current foreign policy goals and objectives are outlined in the Statement of Strategy for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The purpose of the Public Consultation Document is to seek the views of interested stakeholders and members of the public.

The Executive Committee decided that ARCO would make a formal written submission on the matter to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and this is arcosubmissiondfajan2014.

Retirement Presentation – Col Brian O’Keeffe

Colonel Brian O’Keeffe will retire from the Defence Forces on 24 March 2014 after 42 years of dedicated service. Brian is the founding General Secretary of the Representative Association of Commissioned Officers and those who have met him during the course of his career will be more than aware of the considerable contribution he has made to RACO.

A presentation to mark Brian's retirement will be made in the Officers Mess, McKee Bks, Dublin at 16.00 hrs on Thursday 27 March 2014.

Lt Col Eamon Moriarty RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Lieutenant Colonel Eamon Moriarty of Cratloe, County Clare. On Thursday, 13 February 2014 peacefully, in the loving care of the nurses and staff at Beechwood House Nursing Home, Newcastle West, County Limerick. Beloved husband of Sarah Patricia. Deeply regretted by his sisters-in-law Moira, Eileen and Pauline, niece, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at Griffin's Funeral Home, John's Gate, Pennywell, Limerick, on Sunday evening (February 16) from 4.30pm. Removal to Our Lady of The Rosary Church, Ennis Road, Limerick, at 6pm. Funeral on Monday (February 17) after 11am Mass to Craughaun Cemetery, Cratloe. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to the Defence Forces Benevolent Fund.
